The NewHouse living room, showing the 8" x 16" x 22' BC Fir beams. The beams extend two feet past the first floor in order to cantilever the master bedroom above. These beams required the use of a "giraffe"-type crane.
Dining nook, seen at left. The dining nook faces nearly due east so it floods the living room with morning light. Nook windows have a view of Lake Massawippi.
Looking down the front hall into the living room. We call it the "NewHouse" because the cabin became too cramped after we started the family and we had to construct larger quarters.
The music room. Bay window overlooks the pond.
Another view of the music room showing a bit more of Liselyn's grandmother's grand piano. First prize, New England Conservatory, 1923.
The greenhouse window in the music room. This window lets lots of light into the music room and in early spring it's where we start our tomato, pepper, and eggplant seedlings
Heating stove in the living room. We swapped out the Vermont Castings Dutchwest X-Large Convention Heater shown (terrible stove) for a Jotul. Although physically smaller (250 pounds lighter) the Jotul throws as much or more heat as the Dutchwest and is much easier to operate.
The round-top window in the upstairs office. The office is above the music room so the windows look down over the pond.
Upstairs office, showing brother Greg's gorgeous cabinetry workmanship.
The laundry chute in the upstairs hallway. Great feature once I fixed the "snag" half-way down.
The pile of laundry I extricated from the chute when we finally figured out where all our socks, etc were going!
