Pushrod Alignment During Reassembly

While the pushrod holes in rocker box gaskets help hold the pushrods in place during reassembly, they can sometimes rub against even stock pushrods, let alone lightweight custom ones which have a greater diameter.

Here's a simple method which lets you trim the gaskets to provide plenty of clearance and still hold the pushrods for easy alignment with the rockers.

The trick is to cut a set of templates from some thin, lightweight cardboard (a manila folder works well), split them in two, and then lightly tape them together again. Once the pushrods are seated properly on the rockers and the rocker boxes are in place, the template halves are separated and removed as two pieces.
